I came across this post today https://belatedbloomer.wordpress.com/2017/07/18/belated-thanks-janaab-no-name/ which I had to share with you, as it reminded me of this wonderful little book, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, which is a long poem written originally in Persian way back in the 11th Century and which contains great wisdom, that still holds value today…
I originally wrote a post about this wonderful poem last year, when we found it hidden amongst a small bundle of my mum’s precious possessions after she died. It could so easily have been missed as the book is only tiny.. I’m so glad it wasn’t as it now holds a precious place in my heart. You can read more about our discovery here: https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/04/26/discovering-romance/
This tiny book came to me at a time when I was trying to find the courage within me, to step off the hamsters wheel and re-discover the importance of living in the now. I think it arrived in my hands and my heart as a message that I needed to heed… Most definitely a message that thankfully I listened to. It helped me to make the break from the shackles I’d chained myself with and begin to re-discover myself…
I realised when I read this poem, that my parents had discovered this little book early in their lives and in many regards, they had followed the philosophy and ethos contained within those pages, throughout their lives.
I read a quote once from Brenda Sher “…pleasure is a telegram from talent and it has an important message in it.” and I believe that this little book was my telegram and was delivered at the right time, with the message I needed. It helped me re-focus on my core values and to re-discover those hidden talents I’d buried for too long… My creativity that I’d forgotten and am now enjoying re-discovering.
Following our hearts desire and paying heed to the ‘telegrams’ when they present themselves, can transform our lives. We’re often so busy leading our busy lives and running round on that hamsters wheel, that we forget to actually DO the things that add real value and pleasure to our lives. I wrote about this in one of my early blog posts: https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/03/22/how-to-bring-pleasure-into-your-life/ …. maybe this contains that ‘telegram’ that you need to read… who knows? The Law of Attraction may be at work for you too – I hope so!
So many signs are all around us, aren’t they Wendy? How wonderful that you found that treasure of a book. Very special. Tomorrow we’re heading off to Sale for mum’s anniversary mass that my sister has organised. Have to start sorting out her house soon. Wonder what “signs” we’ll find. Hugs xo 💕

Aww – bless you Miri.. I’ll be thinking about you and yes I’m sure you’ll uncover some ‘treasures’ … I hope so! Big hugs returned with love xx
No treasures found today Wendy though I think the treasures lie within. Today was purely a trip to honor her memory. A lunch with my sister and brother and his family. I’m ready to start moving on but they’re procrastinating. Hopefully probate will go through Friday and we can start the process. It’s been a long year in many ways … xo

I’m sure you all did your mum proud in honouring her memory Miri – it’s not easy that first year anniversary.. It’s coming up to my mum’s 4th anniversary – I can’t believe that 4 years have passed but finally I can say that it does feel a bit easier. I’m sure this will come for you and your family… but it takes a while..
I’m just starting the probate process for Bryan’s mum now.. ughhhh – Paperwork paperwork paperwork…yuk! You’re right though Miri – the greatest treasures are those that lie within our memories and our hearts. xxx
Four years, wow, so much time Wendy and yet I bet some days it feels like only yesterday. I’m so glad to hear that things feel a bit easier. It gives me hope and courage on those days when things seem so dark. Talk real soon my lovely friend.xo

Thanks so much for the hug Miri which is returned with love xx
Thank you my sweet friend. xo
The signs ARE all around us, the telegrams (I love that) .. we just have to recognise them and open them. The Omar Khayam is the most precious of texts.
