Challenging Our Beliefs on Health: Interview Between Tony Robbins & Deepak Chopra

As a hypnotherapist, I’ve witnessed many times the power of the subconscious mind. We’ve been indoctrinated for generations to believe that we need to cure our bodies by taking man made drugs. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, my Doctor immediately wanted to prescribe Metformin – 4 tablets per day. Whilst I accept that sometimes we do need ‘drugs’ to help us recover from illness, I also believe that there are many alternative possibilities.

After reading the side effects of taking Metformin, I decided I really didn’t want to risk the impact on my body and reluctantly, my GP agreed to delay prescribing the drug for 3 months. In that time, thanks to the research I was able to access (thank goodness for the Internet), I went on a Low Carbohydrate diet. I succeeded in reducing my blood sugar levels to ‘pre-diabetic’ levels and for the last year, I’ve avoided having to take the prescription drugs.

Now imagine if like many people I’d taken the GP’s initial advice – who knows what the side effects may have been and how they may have had a detrimental impact.. I can’t help but wonder if the delay in changing the National guidance for the treatment of Diabetes, to advise people of the positive effect of changing to a low carbohydrate diet, may be something to do with the VAST amounts of money ££££ that are made by the Drug Companies and their Shareholders… or am I just becoming cynical in my old age?

I’ve also seen evidence with my mother in law, of drugs being prescribed to her for illnesses, which have subsequently created even more serious illnesses and having been told ‘Oh don’t worry about what it says on the leaflet, about not taking that drug if you suffer from glaucoma – the drug company is just trying to cover their back’. It does make me wonder what the point of doing the ‘human trials’ is before drugs can be released, if we aren’t going to take notice of the instructions!!

I’m sure you’re also aware of the impact that many people are suffering as a result of becoming immune to antibiotics due to the ‘over prescription’ over many years and as a result, an increase in the rise of illnesses that the hospitals are now struggling to treat and control.

With this in mind, when I came across the youtube interview below between Deepak Chopra interviewed by Tony Robbins, the view that the mind can in many cases heal the body, resonated with me… This interview challenges our current society beliefs and highlights how amazing our bodies are when we let them just ‘do their thing’… It certainly gives ‘food for thought’ about how powerful our minds can be if put to work in the right way, to produce the chemistry required to heal…

I’m not suggesting that everybody who is taking prescription drugs should stop taking them, but I do think that there are some that can be avoided if we allow our subconscious mind to take back control and do the healing instead..

Certainly worth watching…. Just skip the ever so slightly annoying adverts..

It’s not too late Bella – there are people who have reduced the medication significantly having followed the low carb diet. However, if your mum has hers under control then that’s brilliant too xx
