Xmas Advent Giveaway – Day 10

Xmas Advent Giveaway – Day 10

The little Angel on top of my Xmas Tree whispered to me today…. She reminded me that there are many people who need a BIG HUG in this run up to Xmas!

Maybe a friend, a colleague, a family member or neighbour is feeling lost, lonely and sad because someone very close to them has passed away this year, or they’ve had a breakdown in their relationship or for whatever reason, they’re feeling anxious or depressed.

So before I do my Advent Calendar Reveal today, I’d like to encourage you to notice those people you come into contact with, who may just need a smile or a hug in the run up to Xmas…

Rather than rushing past, please take the time to stop and ask them how they are… and maybe give them a hug….

You never know what a difference it may make to them to receive that little act of kindness that costs you nothing but is a precious gift to the receiver… It is the time of ‘giving’ after all!

I was reminded of this myself recently…..

A couple of weeks ago, I received a parcel delivery and as I went to close the door, I caught a glimpse of sadness in the courier’s eyes…. I opened the door wide and asked her if she was ok… For a moment, she looked surprised that I was asking her that question and she hesitated…. and then she opened up and told me that actually, this was the anniversary of her mum’s death and I could see the tears well up in her eyes. I stepped forward and gave her a big hug and although we are strangers, we shared a precious and loving moment together before she continued with her deliveries…

Today, as I was walking Dolly (my dog), a lady walking toward me was walking her Boxer and as her dog saw my Dolly (aka Gremlin How to be an Irresponsible Dog Owner.. oops!), her dog lunged forward and the lady literally flew behind the dog for a moment before crashing to the floor.

There was a very ‘hairy’ minute when her dog bounded onto Dolly and Dolly once again turned into a Gremlin… The Fur was flying!! I was stuck between separating the 2 dogs and dashing to help the lady who’d fallen to the floor. Fortunately she managed to get herself to her feet and hobbled over to help ‘separate’ the 2 ‘beasts’…

However, I could see that she was hurt and very shaken from her fall. I think she expected me to be angry at the behaviour of her rather large Boxer (although little Dolly had been no Saint..) and she looked taken aback when I asked her if she was ok.. The tears welled up in her eyes and she admitted that she’d really hurt herself… Again, although she was a stranger, I stepped forward and gave her a hug for which she looked eternally grateful.

Although these 2 encounters were ‘strangers’ to me, in both instances the reward of the hugs were mutual… We ‘shared’ those moments and the impact was lasting – the Courier came back with some more parcels a few days later and she told me what a difference that hug had made to her day!

So this Xmas Season, keep your eyes open for those who may be feeling low and share a precious moment and a hug and pass on my little Xmas Angel’s Blessing….

Ok – enough of the soppy.. It’s time to open our Advent Calendar together…. Let’s share this moment!!

What is the BIG REVEAL today then?……..

Oh Nooooooo!!!! Marks & Spencer…. what have you done?

2 Days on the trot… two nail varnishes and BOTH Cranberry….

I’m feeling a bit disappointed … It’s just as well that the ‘presents’ are being divided between 3 Lucky Winners of the Xmas Day Draw, which means that 2 lucky winners will get this lovely colour nail varnish… Maybe that’s not such a bad thing after all!

Remember.. to be in with a chance of receiving one of the 3 present bundles, you will need to be a follower of this blog AND leave a comment!!

    Lovely thought 🙂
Are you sure your dog is actually a dog and not a tiger cub perhaps…?

Haha Samantha.. you could be right although most of the time she is a ‘soppy, cuddly little sheep’ …maybe she’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.. haha…
Although… to be fair… she was seriously provoked and under attack by the Boxer who smashed her to the floor with one big Paw Punch so she came back fighting!! She doesn’t like other dogs at the best of times.. (or cows or horses so we recently discovered!) as she was never socialised as a pup – she was mistreated and landed with us unexpectedly.. she is a little cutie though most of the time! xx

A canine force of Nature to be reckoned with…I’m not that keen on horses…or cows…I see where she’s coming from actually! 🙂 xx

        • December 10, 2016 / 9:47 am

Haha … That’s exactly what she is ‘a force.. or possibly a freak’ of nature! I hope you don’t go charging across the fields to attack them like she did Samantha! x

          • December 10, 2016 / 9:54 am

Generally it’s the other way round..they charge across fields towards me. I’ve never stayed around long enough to find out what they would do! xx

          • December 10, 2016 / 9:57 am

Haha – perhaps you’ve got the better idea there Samantha! Yep – and the bonus of running is you get some exercise at the same time! I can picture it now.. x

Oh Wendy, you’re such a kind soul. You’re so right, it takes such little effort to notice when someone is sad yet it can have such an impact when we reach out. A hug, a smile, a question can make the biggest difference in someone’s day. I try and do the same whenever I can.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Big hugs to you xo ?

Thanks Miriam.. It’s not always easy when we’re rushing through our lives and I’m sure I’ve missed many opportunities to do this myself in the past when I was working flat out.. so now’s my time to be able to make it up a bit… The more of us on the look out – imagine the difference that can make if only to one person! I hope you’re weekend goes ok too Miriam and a VERY big hug and a sprinkle of magical dust from heaven. xx

      • December 10, 2016 / 10:15 am

Hey gorgeous lady, yeah I agree, we can all do our bit to make a difference. I’m having a nice weekend. Hubs is back from an interstate work trip so we’re enjoying a nice catch up tonight. Hope yours is a great one. Hugs xo
