Our Xmas Tree was put up on Monday after some ‘nagging’ to hubby to climb up into the loft. We’ve got no proper loft ladders and watching hubby ‘swing’ from the top of the decorating ladder and haul himself up into the very dirty and very overloaded (with 27 years worth of goodness knows what…) loft space, highlighted 2 things to me:
- Hubby who will turn the big SIX ZERO (much to his disgust) next year, needs a proper ‘Loft Ladder’ that won’t entail him swinging precariously like a monkey as he hauls himself up from the ‘space’ between the top of the decorating ladder and the start of the loft… This Year was even more ‘touch and go’ than previous years and when he remerged to ‘swing’ back down and I said ‘We really do need a proper loft ladder’ (which I’ve been saying for 27 years)… this year, he finally agreed that we do! Age has a way of ‘catching up’… They say “you’re as old as you feel”… I suspect he felt it after his monkey climb this year and wasn’t feeling quite as ‘macho’ as in previous years!!
- One of my ‘Goals’ for 2017 really must be to CLEAR THE CRAP out of that loft. Now this has been a ‘Goal’ for at least the last 10 years and like many New Year Resolutions, was never achieved… However, having poked my head up into the loft to ‘bark some orders’ about which boxes needed to be retrieved (containing the Xmas decorations and baubles etc), I have a very ‘strong’ feeling that if we don’t succeed this year that life will take it’s own course and the contents of the loft may well empty themselves through the ceiling and onto our bed!
So there we have the first 2 of my 2017 list of GOALS (more to follow) i.e Get a LOFT ladder and Clear the Clutter!
I’ll keep you posted on how successful we are in sticking to them!
However… while I prevaricate for a while longer about starting/finishing my Goals, it’s time to procrastinate for a bit longer while I open DAY 9 of the Xmas Giveaway M&S Advent Calendar…. (Crikey… the days are flying by and I’ve only bought 2 presents)

I wish they were. This year they’ve been very slow. Hub is away interstate for work and rather than feeling motivated I’m snowed under with other things and worries. BUT I’m determined to get things moving … it’ll be a last minute dash for me at this rate! 🙂 xo
