Xmas Advent Giveaway – Day 2

Xmas Advent Giveaway – Day 2

Hey – I’m loving this M&S Xmas Advent ‘daily opening ceremony’ so here we go, it’s DAY….

To be part of the Xmas Day Prize Draw, you need to be a ‘follower’ and leave me a comment! I’ll be drawing names out of the hat on Xmas Day so keep those comments coming!

… It’s really getting me into the Christmas Spirit and no, I don’t mean the whisky type of Spirit!

Talking of ‘spirit’ though (the alcoholic type this time), the truth is, I am partial to a bit of Sailor Jerry’s Rum… just occasionally….. However, after a ‘little incident’, whilst on holiday in Turkey a couple of years ago, my hubby ‘barred’ me from becoming acquainted with any more Sailors who go by the name Jerry!

Let me tell you a little story… before we get to the DAY 2 Advent Calendar BIG REVEAL!

To set the scene…

We were lucky to be staying in a lovely hotel in Turkey in a luxurious hotel with a beautiful swimming pool and air conditioned bedrooms (which was necessary because it was VERY HOT!)…

Generally, I’m not much of a ‘drinker’ and usually end up being the sober ‘taxi’ at the end of a night out (for some reason, people often think I’m drunk when I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol…). However, on holiday, I may ‘let my hair down’ and have an odd tipple or 2… or on the particular evening in question, maybe even 3 or 4.. or more…. oops!

Yep – you’ve got it… me and alcohol are not a great cocktail!

Having become slightly too well acquainted that particular evening with ‘Sailor Jerry’, I suddenly found my ‘sense of adventure’ and decided it would be a good idea to drag my very unwilling husband away from our beautiful, air conditioned and luxurious hotel room in Turkey, to go on said ‘adventure’ ……

It’s a very long story so I’ll cut to the chase… (not chaser – although actually there were a few earlier that night as I ‘vaguely’ recall…) ….

……..We ended spending the night in what can only be described as a ‘hovel’, in a remote village on top of a ‘mountain’, with no transport, no air conditioning – not even a window in the room we slept in.. which I can’t refer to as a ‘bedroom’…. more like some straw on the floor… (well possibly a very slight exaggeration…), NO method of communication, NO TOILET… (that got gory…) oh and NO WATER! Oh yes….. then there was the SMELL – The freezer in the ‘hovel’ had broken down and all the meat inside it had gone rotten… I can’t begin to describe how BAD that smell was… I can still feel myself ‘retching’ now at the thought ughhhhhh!

And yes – the gory bit… my husband had a very ‘upset’ tummy (to put it politely) and bear in mind there was NO TOILET… He spent a very ‘uncomfortable few hours’ searching for a ‘suitable location’ on the side of the mountain!…. I’ll say no more…

It was lunchtime the following day before we were rescued and found some transport back to the hotel, by which team we were de-hydrating from the lack of water and burnt to a cinder due to lack of shade or sun protection cream!!

I’m sure you can understand why I had some serious ‘grovelling’ to do and why hubby has stuck to my ‘LIFETIME BAN’ from becoming acquainted with any more Sailors…. called Jerry!

I still blame that Old Sailor Jerry – definitely a BAD INFLUENCE and  made me do it!!!….

So Back to the XMAS Spirit…..

I’ll be putting up the Xmas Tree this weekend and although I’ve only bought one Xmas Present so far, I’m determined that this year I’m going to be more organised and not leave present shopping until Xmas Eve and end up ‘panic buying’ as I have occasionally done in previous years!

I’m also looking forward to a night out at the Manchester Xmas Markets and could be tempted to have a glass (or 2) of Gluvine … hopefully that won’t have the same ‘effect’ as the Sailor’s did or you may find me joining SANTA on top of Manchester Town Hall!

Ahhh.. Long Live THE SPIRIT OF XMAS!

Are you ready now for DAY 2’s BIG REVEAL?…. drum roll….

Keeping the suspense going…….

Don’t forget to leave a comment to be included in the Xmas Day Draw!

Here we go… Day 2 Box opened to reveal…..

(oops blury photo  – sorry – it’s that darned Xmas Spirit again… hiccup… hiccup… hiccipup…)

So I’ll tell you instead… It’s a Facial Peel! (sounds a bit painful)

ps…. If you win this prize, I won’t be held responsible for any ‘facial peel incidents’… as you  know.. it’s all Sailor Jerry’s fault!!

Bet you can’t wait now for Day 3’s BIG REVEAL… well as my mum used to say… “Patience is a virtue!”……

If this photo looks blurry to you, it’s nothing to do with my camera skills… I suspect you may have been overdoing the XMAS SPIRIT!!…..

I have one of those “Oops!”related to booze as well. Being reminded about the story is funny but painful, isn’t it? Mine was with tequila. I can’t remember how many shot I dunked and I lost my memory totally. Came next morning, I woke up and found my hair crinkly like Afro, wrapped up in newspaper and totally dazed in my friend’s flat. They recounted how I ranted and ranted and ranted. I was so ashamed and swore to myself that I would never touch tequila ever again…
    Face peel? Sounds good?x

HAha! Nightmare… Crinkly hair .. sounds hilarious! After my DIY Makeup Disaster a few weeks ago, I’m glad to give this one away – I don’t think my skin would cope with another ‘peel’ (Yikes – photo’s on the post about it… not good!)… I’m sure this one will be brilliant though and not like my DIY disaster! x

Face masks sometimes scare me! But the results are worth it…thanks for sharing!

    • December 2, 2016 / 9:05 am

You’re very welcome Dej.. Thanks for popping over to my site. I don’t seem to be able to link back to you though and I’m not sure why?

Ha ha, this is adorable, down to the suspense song, Wendy. 🙂 OK I’m in for the draw (though a little cautious based on the photos that you posted with your grandkids, remember that? 🙂 ) Much love… Debbie

Haha – Hopefully with this being the ‘real deal’ it will be ok and I won’t get any MASSIVE law suits for passing on my wrinkles! (Hey guess what though… I’m sure the effect has been like a chemical peel as my ‘laughter lines’ don’t look quite as deep as they did before the mask! – every cloud has a silver lining!… I don’t think I’ll be repeating or recommending it though haha!)

    • December 2, 2016 / 3:02 am

Thank you! And thanks for popping across to have a look at my blog. It’s lovely to meet you! x

Haha, love this funny anecdote of yours Wendy. Jerry must be such a strong stuff to make you feel that way.
