How to Open Your ‘Door of Joy’ – You’re Holding the Key..

How to Open Your ‘Door of Joy’ – You’re Holding the Key..

Tonight I have been truly inspired by a wonderful lady, who despite suffering a stroke continues her amazing craft of producing crochet everlasting blossoms. Myra has truly touched my heart and her response in a comment will stay with me forever..

This is an example of one of her beautiful creations – an art she learned many years ago when she lived in China:

Despite being paralysed down her left side, Myra has re-kindled her love and ability to ‘Tat’ https://myrahochang.wordpress.com/2016/09/25/a-new-step-to-a-new-but-old-craft/  Imagine having the determination to re-discover abilities once thought lost..

Tonight I received the following comment from Myra:

Thank you! Wendy. I’m still working on it. It’s getting there. It may not be as beautiful and fancy as notewords’, but it is my key to another door of joy!

Wow – imagine holding the key to a ‘Door of Joy’ – what would be beyond that door for you and if you were holding the key in your hand, would you have the courage to unlock the door and walk through it?

So often, deep within our hearts, we know what would bring joy into our lives and yet we hold ourselves locked into a ‘joyless’ situation for far too long without making the changes that deep inside we know would be ‘right’ for us. We ignore the whispering within our hearts… This often relates to some of the ‘big’ areas of our lives:

  • Relationships
  • Career
  • Health
  • Family
  • Finances

Are you clear on how you feel about some of the key areas of your life – what’s working for you and what’s not? If not, the Wheel Of Life tool is a great starting point: https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/03/02/the-wheel-of-life/  and can really visually highlight for you the areas of your life that would benefit from some focussed attention.

Some of you may not yet be aware of the whispers in your heart and yet you feel something just isn’t ‘quite right’. If so, you may benefit from creating a VISION BOARD to help you gain some clarity on what would bring you ‘joy’ – check out my previous posts on this:

  1. Dream Board: https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/04/26/how-to-create-a-dream-vision-board/
  2. Focus Board: https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/04/26/how-to-create-a-dream-vision-board/
  3. Vision Board Magic: https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/03/16/how-i-created-my-first-vision-board-magic/

What is holding you back from making the changes that would unlock the ‘door of joy’ for you? It’s strange to think that many of us are holding the ‘key’ and yet we fail to unlock the door…. and time rolls by….. and we think – I can’t because:

  • “It’s too late – I’m too old”

  • “I don’t have the energy”

  • “I’m not healthy enough”

  • “I haven’t got the money”

ETC. Etc. etc…… Speaking from personal experience of being ‘stuck’ for too long in one area of my life (at least), I recognise that our excuses are many and varied aren’t they?

And yet… Myra, who is in her 80’s, has suffered a stroke and is left with paralysis down one side of her body, still recognises that she has new ‘doors of joy’ to experience.

Wow – What an example and inspiration Myra is to me!

Thank you Myra – The scent of your blossoms will certainly last with me forever, to remind me:

  • Of the importance of recognising what is amazing in my life already and taking more time to appreciate those things.
  • To overcome fears and use the key to Open MY Door to Joy..

I hope you will visit Myra’s blog and experience some of the magic I received from looking at her amazing ‘everlasting blossom’. Stop, take some time to smell the roses and then carry that ‘everlasting’ scent with you too as a reminder that you can do anything you set your mind to once you use your key to open the door to your JOY!!! https://myrahochang.wordpress.com/

I also send my thanks to https://knittingwithheart.wordpress.com/ for leading me to Myra’s blog…

Here’s a selection of photo’s showing things and people that bring me joy.. I’ve turned the key and started to edge open the door…. new adventures are waiting…

Absolutely true Bella – sometimes it brings out our ‘inner beauty and strength’ that we didn’t know was hiding within us.. Yep .. our Brilliance Within! With regard the Vision Board, it’s absolutely fine to write down your vision too.. My recommendation would be to write all those things down in BIG letters and use colours and perhaps some glitter stickers so that the words jump out from the page and then still use the principle of putting the page somewhere where you see it every day and take the daily time to focus on what you’ve written… Good luck! x
