Will You Be The Exception?

Will You Be The Exception?

After the sad attack in France and then the uprising in Turkey, isn’t it time we all took a moment to think about how we are behaving toward ourselves and each other on this little planet called Earth.

Is it time to take personal responsibility for our actions, thoughts and beliefs instead of automatically believing what we are told and following the crowd?

Ask yourself:

“Are you getting sucked into mass hysteria, believing the lies of politicians, being indoctrinated by human interpretation of religion, disrespecting yourself, your neighbour and your World?”

or on a more personal level:

“Do you use alcohol and drugs to mask your feelings and emotions – or maybe it’s food, shopping addictions, self-harming or the array of other things we do to stop ourselves really having to think about our lives and how we are living both in our immediate little world of neighbourhood, family, friends, gangs etc. or as part of the wider community, the country, the nation, the continent, the world?”

If the answer is Yes then it’s time to STOP and make a personal change. It’s no good thinking that there’s no point doing anything as it ‘wont make any difference’…..

Changing yourself and how you live, speak and behave starts a ripple which has the capacity to spread far and wide.

We can’t change others but we can start by making the change ourselves and the key is to stop, take a moment and start really thinking for yourself. It doesn’t have to be you changing the whole world but you can change your small part of it….

Can we stop being dragged along by other people’s beliefs and instead challenge the beliefs you hold about yourself, your community or the world that may have developed over the last few years?

Maybe we should challenge ourselves about what we believe about what’s good for us, or about religions, cultures, colours, creeds etc.?

As examples:

  • Many of us are suffering the consequences of being mis-informed in the 1980’s about what a ‘good diet’ consisted of. We increased the amount of carbohydrate in our diet and reduced the amount of fat we ate. Now we’re told this was ‘mis-information’ which has contributed to the epidemic of heart disease and diabetes etc. Sometimes the experts do know best and sometimes they really don’t.
  • We can do our internet searches and come up with an array of amazing information and equally a mass of mis-information.

It is therefore ever more important that we really stop and take time to develop our own beliefs about what is right and wrong rather than following the crowd and chasing after the Lemmings..

If we all made a slight shift in the trajectory of our path, taking a few small steps in a new direction, maybe we could journey toward a place where our different paths meet and join together to form a new Roadmap for the World.

A NEW World here on Earth, where we can respect each others differences, enjoy each others unique characteristics and support each other in times of famine so we can all enjoy a shared feast.

Am I the idiot for thinking that we need to make a combined effort to change and thinking that we  each need to start taking back control of our own minds and thinking for ourselves? Maybe then we can each generate a new ripple which spreads out across our oceans and inspires others to change and start their own positive ripple effect.

Life is pretty simple. We live on a small planet within this massive universe. We share the same sun which gives us the energy to survive. We have water, minerals, plants and animals and we need to nurture these in order to sustain our ecology and to maintain our rhythm of life..

Our ecology is finely tuned and very finely balanced and in the last couple of hundred years, the industrialisation of our planet has had a massive impact on that scale and it’s tipping out of control. Surely we need to shift the balance and instead we are tearing each other apart and further destroying each others lives and the world in which we live.

We are supposedly the most intelligent creature on Earth and yet we are driving forward with beliefs and a selfishness that is destroying the World we share together. We are each contributing in some way to the destruction of the world we share and yet regardless of the incredible access to information, technology and resources that we have, we continue on our destructive path.

Rather than slowing down, we are hurtling along the road like kamikaze drivers!

Is the end of our World inevitably going to be as a result of our selfish way of living and am I naive in believing that we all have the capacity within us to make a change for the better?

For me – I don’t care if someone holds different religious or spiritual beliefs or where they come from or what the colour of their skin is or whether they eat different food etc. etc. etc.

None of these things will matter in the end if we continue along our current path because we will all disappear into an almighty puff of toxic smoke..

We are sharing a common vision alright:

‘destroy the world’

but here is the simple bit about our shared objective:

What fools we really are… Or are we?

  • Are we starting to see a shift where people are beginning to really think for themselves and jump off the treadmill many of us have ridden for so long?

I for one have been rushing along on the hamsters wheel but hey ho – thank goodness – I’ve finally seen sense and am now on a different slower path to enlighten my journey through life rather than continuing behind the lemmings and throwing myself off the cliff… However, we all need to make a shift otherwise there won’t be a cliff for any of us to jump off!!

I’ve been fascinated since I started blogging in how easy it is to connect with like minded people across the globe and how small the internet has really made the world that we share. Let’s use our connections for positive benefits and make a real effort to understand each others differences.. It’s opening up a new world for me – maybe that’s the shore I talk about in my poem below?

Do you think we are coming out of the Lemming mentality or am I just a fool to believe that I think I’m feeling a difference?

Keep HOPE alive – Lets Change our current ‘common destructive vision’ which leads down the extinction path, to a new inspiring vision of working together to save the planet we live on instead?

What change can you make today that would set you apart from the crowd?

Take a minute to read my poem below: …..

Leave a comment below: I’d love to hear your thoughts on the changes you think we should be making and what you are doing to stand out from the crowd?

Stand away from the crowd!

Think for yourself,

Be true and be proud

and find inner wealth..

Stand up and be counted!

Say what you believe.

Honesty never be doubted,

Wear your heart on your sleeve..

Be the inspiration to the crowd

Let them follow your lead,

Shout your World Vision loud

And sow only positive seeds…

Nurturing growth from acorn to oak

with branches spread wide

Rising above the malice some may poke

At your message of hope which drives a turn of the tide

Lead us to the lost shore where love resides

Where we live with respect for nature and each other

Where every individual shows gratitude and pride

In our freedom to express our views and never smother

So that on this new shore we can create and renew

to reveal our humanity without worry or fear

and harmoniously share our bright sun and sky so blue

with no war or destruction and share life’s joys not Nations tears..

I love this. So very true. I think it’s all about how we treat each other. One of my very favorite quotes is the one referred to above: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Gandhi. <3

Thanks so much and you’re right, we think we can’t make a difference but really we can make a change that sends a positive vibration and who knows what impact it may have at some point down the line! Much appreciated! x

Hey Wendy, Well said, super powerful, going to share this on twitter. Brilliant, we are all one family, we all human being, colour is just biology, religion came about to keep us on track as we steering away from our natural and true values of peace, love, purity , wisdom , joy – into selfishness, greed, lust, ego, attachment – etc… This is great piece.

    Thanks for sharing Bella

I’ll be honest – I hesitated about posting this but decided that’s one of the changes I have to make myself – Stand true and be proud and shout out my own values to the World.. Thanks for agreeing with the sentiment – it keeps hope going.. xx

      • July 16, 2016 / 7:26 pm

Hi Wendy, I understand the hesitation. I often feel that way to with a lot of my post. I think what you have said is so eloquent and apt for the time we are in. If it changes and reach people and helps them refocus – it will be a good thing.

If it counts I love it and found it inspiring and worthy of note taking and application in my life.
        Take care Bella

This reminds me of Gandhi’s quote regarding being the change we want to see. The entire post resonates with me quite well. Awesome share.

Thanks so much. Lovely to meet you at this time and I’m pleased you found some of my thoughts aligned to your own! Wow – Gandhi.. He was right we have to change ourselves as we can never change others – only influence them by changing ourselves.. x

        • July 17, 2016 / 5:25 am

Fabulous, much appreciated and vice versa! Great to be in touch. x

  6. July 16, 2016 / 3:01 pm

Wonderful post. It is so true. We can’t change others, but we can change ourselves. I went through a negative period in my life. When I learned to look at things through a positive perspective, things began to change.

Have a wonderful weekend full of sunshine and smiles.
