So following on from previous post How I created my first Vision Board Magic , do you know what you want your life to look like?
Are you trapped in the rat race of working long hours, getting home late, slobbing out in front of the TV?
Or maybe you just feel like there is something more to life?….
Well Vision Boarding can really help you to start living a more fulfilled life. Let your imagination go and you may be surprised where it takes you….
We start off as children knowing what makes us feel good, having our dreams, using our imagination and somewhere along the line we often begin to limit ourselves when parents tell us we ‘have to be realistic’ or teachers tell us to ‘stop dreaming and focus on what you need to do’.
Many of us become conditioned to limit our expectations and our imaginations, which then reflects in our lives which are limited by our belief that we have to be ‘realistic’ ‘sensible’ ‘grown up’ etc.
Sometimes it’s hard to set goals when you’re not sure what it is you want, so in today’s post I’m going to tell you about the first kind of Vision Board i.e. THE DREAM BOARD…
Maybe you’ve been stuck in your rut for so long, you’ve forgotten what makes you feel good or maybe you’ve never really been sure what it is you want in life but you know deep inside you want life to be more than it is?
Ok – if that’s the case, the Dream Vision Board is a great way to help you re-inspire your imagination and create a future full of new possibilities.
You will need:
- A large piece of thin card or heavy paper – I use A3 size and I also have an A3 folder that I use to keep them in.
- Some glue and some appealing stickers (I decorated my folder and also add the stickers onto my vision board – I use glittery ones…)
- Some coloured felt tip pens – I like to have some silver and gold ink pens (I did say on my Blog Site Welcome Page that I like glitz…)
- A bundle of old magazines/brochures – I use some of the glossy magazines as these tend to have some beautiful pictures in them and some travel brochures, car brochures or pictures printed from the internet can also be good.
That’s it – now all you need is to create some space in your life to sit down, relax and enjoy creating your dream vision board magic…
- It’s simple – first look through the magazines/brochures – scroll through the pages quickly and look at the pictures/headings/positive words – which one’s jump out of the page – what do you notice that give you a good feeling when you see them?
- Imagine that you can do/ be/ have anything you desire – let your imagination go wild and as soon as you see a picture or word that attracts you, cut it out and stick it on your Vision Board – it doesn’t matter whether you believe it’s possible to have these things or not, the idea is to inspire you to start creating the life of your dreams..
- Be Brave – cut out the pictures that you love that seem beyond your wildest dreams!
- Once you’ve cut out and stuck some pictures and inspirational words on your Dream Board, you can add to this by using the coloured pens to write out some sentences of things that you already know you would love to have e.g. Your ambitions, goals, dream job, perfect income – THINK BIG!
- Use your stickers and pens to decorate the Dream Board so that it’s appealing to you. This is an important step – the Board needs to make you feel great when you look at it. It’s there to inspire you so be creative!
Now stand back and have a look at where you’ve let yourself go, without the normal limitations that you place on your life. Doesn’t it make you feel great!!
- Look at your Dream Board every day – put it somewhere accessible. This is the Dream Vision for your life – don’t hide it away again – it’s been hiding inside you for far too long. This is a way of creating new possibilities and open your mind up to new ventures.
- By creating a Dream Board, your mind will start to align itself to the possibility that some of the ‘dreams’ are achievable. You start to notice opportunities that previously were outside of your conscious awareness and therefore they were missed.
- You can add to the Dream Board if you see something else that appeals to you – you’ll be surprised about what pops into your head or what you notice that makes you feel good now you have started to lift the lid on dreams you’ve buried away for so long…
- For now just enjoy looking at your Dream Board every day, think about what it would feel like to do or have some of the things you have added onto it – let yourself feel the inner happiness start to grow when you imagine these things.
The Dream Board is helping you to open your mind up to new possibilities and reminding you of some dreams you’ve buried because you were conditioned to believe that dreams are for children not grown ups….
Review your board every day and start to notice which of the words or pictures inspire you the most as we’ll start to use these on the next type of Vision Board – The FOCUS Board which I’ll post about soon. For now just enjoy your Dream Board every day…
Please – Post me a picture of your Dream Board or send me a comment to let me know how you get on.
I hope you enjoy creating your Dream Board as much as I did… Look back on my previous post (link above) to see what emerged….

And even more inspired
Thanks Bella! Have a brilliant weekend. x
Are you trapped in the rat race of working long hours, getting home late, slobbing out in front of the TV? Yes, Yes and well no I like slobbing out in front of the tv…;-) My Dream Board would be of staying home and relaxing for at least 6 months to a year so I could catch up on my rest! Then I would volunteer at the nearby elderly housing and do things to help the elderly and finally end my day by stopping at an animal shelter and volunteer as either a cat or dog cuddler…now that’s a day!!! Inspirational post Wendy…hope your dreams all come true in 2017! Happy New Year. xoxo
Hi Deb and a VERY happy New Year to you too! To be honest – I like a ‘slob out’ in front of the television too but I’ve definitely ‘cut back’… Your dream sounds perfect… although to be fair, I’ve taken ‘time out’ from work but that’s about to come to an end and I’m not looking forward to getting back on the hamsters wheel…Needs Must! I’ve worked a lot with older people throughout the last 20 years and it is so rewarding..even the ‘crabby’ people are often the most interesting when you take time to talk to them and listen to the stories of their past.. I love it! And – who couldn’t love to be a ‘dog cuddler’ … not quite so sure about the cats.. I wish you the very best and amazing success in living your dreams… xx
Thanks Wendy! I knew your time out was coming to end but this time you will enjoy the hamsters wheel!! Yes I agree the elderly can teach us so much, I too lean more towards dogs than cats but either will do!! I’m focusing my energy and feelings in the direction I want to travel, thanks for the wishes!! xo Wishing you every joy come to you!! 🙂
Thanks Deb – I really appreciate your words of kindness and actually I’m determined not to fully get back onto the hamsters wheel.. I’ll never be working 80+ hours per week again that’s for sure.. how could I – I wouldn’t have time for blogging and linking up with some great friends like you! Wishing you much joy also and I have positive vibes for 2017 where we’ll definitely be moving in the direction of our dreams! xx
Thanks Wendy! Me too!! Oh no way no 80 hours that’s cra cra!! That’s short for crazy in case you were wondering. hee hee
Looking forward to sharing our dream manifestations together…happy living the dream!! xo
I know Deb – definitely was CRAZY! ..yep I was wondering re: cra haha.. I’m looking forward to sharing dreams and their manifestation into reality too.. Sending a big hug across the pond! x
Mmmmm hug received, thanks, feels comforting!! Sending a big hug back to you. xo Here’s to manifesting in 2017. 🙂
Brilliant Deb – feeling that hug in return and definitely with you sharing some amazing ‘manifestations’ in 2017! Have a fabulous weekend. xx
Wishing you the same!! xo
Oh, you’ve done it again my crafty, cool friend. This is awesome! Several years ago I stopped subscribing to magazines–I got so busy I had stopped reading and they piled up–so I have very few now. There is certainly an abundance of other clutter around so I should find ample material to start my board. 😉 Lovely idea. <3
Fantastic – Dream On Karen and DREAM BIG!.. Then move onto the ‘Focus Vision Board’ (blog post about that too.. ) You can print pictures off the internet as well if you can’t find something in what you’ve got.. Enjoy! xx
This is so cool and creative! I think I might try it!!
Brilliant – I hope you do as they are fab to create! x

Hi Cheryl – I just thought I’d let you know that I’ve finally done a follow up post on creating a Focus Vision Board : https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/06/28/5-steps-to-create-your-focus-vision-board/
I’m sorry it took so long! x
Wendy, thanks for finding me and my blog. Which lead me to find your wonderful blog. And you are in the UK -even better. I am a BA specialising in Peoplesoft HR & Payroll – i know it is a bit dead with workday etc. I took some time out from freelancing and then my mum had a second heart attack and pace maker only after a triple bypass a year ago. So my life did a super duper change. Mum is at what i call a new norm and frankily needs me. We two days volunteer work and then home. I love the idea of vision boarding need to try. Greatly believe in law of attraction. And meditation helps put it all into practise. Enjoyed this post i gotta get on and create a vision board -robin sharma has his in his journal. I did a piece on the power of journaling, just need to do a vision , need to buy some magazines going against my declutter phase here. Lol. Looking forward to reading more posts of yours. Bella
What a lovely comment – thank you so much and also for following my blog – I really appreciate it. I’m so sorry to hear about your mum – that really is life changing and definitely a priority for you at this time – your mum is lucky to have you in her life to support her! I love vision boarding and am in the process of refreshing mine at the moment and will be posting the next post on this subject very soon so – watch this space…. It’s a lovely way to lose yourself in developing your dream vision and I really hope you enjoy creating your first vision board. I’m pretty proud that this post has inspired at least one person to take the first step in creating a vision for their life. I wish you much happiness in your life and send Angel Blessings to your mum.. I can’t wait to hear how you get on with your Dream Board! xx

Love this post Wendy, I have my vision board up in my bedroom on my wall in clear sight 🙂
Thanks so much I appreciate your feedback! I never cease to be amazed by the ‘magic’ a Vision Board creates and how suddenly you see/hear things that you simply missed previously that can radically change your life.
Thanks so much for your feedback. I never cease to be amazed by the ‘magic’ of a vision board – you suddenly notice opportunities that you missed previously because now you have some ‘focus’ on what you want.

After reading ‘The Secret’ , I have always believed in having a vision board, and just recently sat down to create a new one! You get such a feeling of motivation and that ‘anything is possible’ feeling! Great post- and to anyone out there who hasn’t made one before you should read on and give it a go!
