Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea

Today I invited my sister round (she lives next door) for a good old fashioned afternoon tea to celebrate her 60th birthday (in advance of her party next week). Sometimes those last minute arrangements work out perfectly and today was one of those occasions.

The party grew quickly and unexpectedly from it being just for my sister and I having a quiet afternoon tea together,  to  my niece, 4 great nieces, son, nephew in law, nephew and last but definitely not least my husband.

I can highly recommend Mary Berry’s Scone recipe (maryberry.co.uk) which was always a favourite of my mums and worked perfectly – those scones were SO tasty (not good for the diet though) and were complimented perfectly by Marks & Spencer Strawberry conserve and fresh Cornish clotted cream – mmmmm tasty!

We all agreed that the Marks & Spencer meringue nests are THE BEST of all the supermarkets we’ve tried – they are ‘chewy’ in the centre and with a touch of champagne strawberry cream and fresh strawberries, they went down a storm..

A lovely afternoon spent with some of my family – what a treat!

Happy 60th Birthday Bev! – Where have those years gone since we shared our bedroom at Warwick Road…

Oooo now your asking…. It has to be home made scones with Devon clotted cream and strawberry jam and Twinings breakfast tea.. The BIG question is whether to put the jam on the scones first or the clotted cream? For me it’s got to be jam first…. Thanks for liking my post and following my blog – fab! x

That’s so cool! What life is all about, treasured memories and more treasured because they go beyond what we plan in an awesome way. Look at God!
